This thirteen-day journey circles the country from Marrakech through the Sahara, the imperial cities, and the northern coast before returning south. Travel across the High Atlas Mountains to the earthen ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, into the Sahara for a night beneath the stars, and on through Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca before closing the loop in Marrakech. The route balances Morocco’s great cities with its landscapes and rural traditions: a rose cooperative in the Roses Valley, an Amazigh art museum in El Khorbat, a camel ride into the dunes, a tile workshop in Tetouan, and the meeting point of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic at Cape Spartel. Nights are spent in riads, guesthouses, and a desert camp across the country’s four imperial cities and its northern coast, offering a complete crossing of Morocco from the Sahara to the sea.
