Morning pickup in Marrakech
Your driver and guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech in the morning. After a short introduction to the day, you’ll leave the city and head west toward the Atlantic coast.
Drive through the argan countryside
The road to Essaouira passes through open landscapes dotted with argan trees and small rural villages. Depending on the season, you may see goats climbing the trees to feed on the fruit.
Optional stop at a women’s argan cooperative
Along the route, you may stop at a small argan oil cooperative run by local women. Here you can learn about the traditional process of producing argan oil used for cooking and cosmetics.
Arrival in Essaouira
By late morning, you’ll arrive in the coastal town of Essaouira, known for its relaxed atmosphere, historic medina, and strong artisan traditions.
Guided walking tour of the medina
You will meet a local guide for a walking tour through the medina. As you explore the narrow streets, you’ll learn about the town’s history as a port, its mix of cultures, and its long-standing artisan traditions.
Visit a traditional woodworking workshop
During the guided walk, you’ll stop at a local woodworking atelier where artisans shape thuya wood into boxes, bowls, musical instruments, and decorative objects. This craft has been practiced in the region for generations.
Walk along the harbor and sea ramparts
The tour continues toward the historic harbor, where fishermen bring in their daily catch. You’ll also walk along the old sea ramparts, with wide views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Lunch by the sea
After the guided tour, you can enjoy lunch at a small local restaurant near the harbor or inside the medina. Fresh seafood is a popular choice, often grilled and served simply with bread, salads, and lemon.
Short walk or tea by the coast
After lunch, there is time for a short walk along the beach or a relaxed tea or coffee overlooking the ocean before departure.
Return to Marrakech
In the afternoon, you’ll meet your driver and begin the return journey to Marrakech, arriving back at your accommodation in the early evening.
